December 2005 EAST COAST BASS ANGLERS

Treasure Coast Bass Anglers launched its monthly tournament this past Saturday with only 18 and 2 new propective club Anglers fishing. Two Anglers arrived at the lake extremely late because of Alarm Clock problems. Robert (Bob) Haarer was the 1st boat to launch and he went to his favorite honey hole on the west side. I launched 5th and followed the canel along the road north to the pads on the north east side of the lake. My Partner, Walter Hunter and I started fishing the edge of the pads just around the bend.

About 12 casts later, throwing a Horny Toad, I got hit. Got the fish outta the pads and found I had a mud fish in the 2 pound class. So, we fished on past the first ditch and into the second set of pads. About 2/3 the way to the next ditch, I saw a fish swirl in side so we went through the pads to the sparse area but could not get the fish to hit. Heading on towards the ditch, we were just about outta the pads when I saw another swirl. I cast out in the ditch and pulled the frog up to the spot where the swirl had been and let it just drop. About 2 seconds later the line went tight and I set the hook landing a 3.71 pounder.

Time was 7:20 and we had all day to get 4 more fish. We fished down the ditch but failed to get another hit. We trolled back to the spot where I had caught the fish and started flipping some pads there. I got a good hit but could not get the fish out. A few pitches later I got another hit but again could not get the fish out. As it turned out that one fish would be the only fish caught on my boat for the day but was big enough to be the big fish for the day.

1st place was Rick Sisina and Chuck Smith with a total weight of 20.14 pounds. 2nd Place was John Anthony who fished with a guest and had a blind draw of Rick Sasina with a total weight of 17.49 pounds. Third place was Jim Coleman who fished along and had a 5 fish limit and a blind draw of Mike Schlueter for a total weight of 12.39 pounds. Overall Angler of the Year is Robert Sheltra (1st Place in Boater category) with 121.55 total points. Mark Szoboszlay (2nd Place Angler of the Year in boater category) with 112.26 points. Carl Lewis (3rd Place in boater Category: 104.61 total points. C.B. (Chuck Smith) (First place in the Non-Boating Category) with 102.86 points. Mike Schlueter (2nd place in non-boater category) with 75.05 pounds. Robert (Bob) Miller Miller with 52.31 total points (3rd place in non boater category)
