We stayed inside protected for about 2 hours to no avail. Bob managed to boat one 12 1/2 inch fish. It was slow going so the two of us decided to head out and try Moonshine Bay. We had a little touble finding the spot but after a diligent search, we landed just as the GPS said we would. Bob managed to get 2 keepers out of Moonshine. I went to a very large dead reed patch and started throwing a Horny Toad. I had 5 good hits on the toad but was unable to get a hook set on any of them. At 1:45 with an hour remaining in the tournament, I went back to my first spot and made a couple of casts and hooked a nice two pounder.
Jeff and Ed had stayed in the area all day and both had nice stringers with Ed coming to the scale with 10.40 pounds and Jeff weighing in 15.60 pounds. Guess I should have stayed in that area. However, as nice a stringer as Jeff had, it was overshadowed by the Stringer that Jim Coleman brought to the scale. Jim had big fish for the tournament which weighed in at 7.03 pounds and a second fish that was not far behind. Jim's Total weight was 22.19 pounds. Jim started the day out in the lake but with his small boat decided early that he should just fish the Harney pond canel. I don't know if Jim was using one of his home made baits or not but whatever he was using sure did the trick.
Leroy Bauer also came to the scale with one nice bass which weighed in at 6.92 pounds and a total weight of 11.36 pounds. This tournament really changed the overall standings for Angler of the Year but of course it's still early in the year and open to just about anyone.
