February 2008 results

Dave with Tourney Big Fish, 5.66 pounds.

East Coast Bass Anglers held their Monthly tournament on Saturday, Feb 23rd, 2008, launching at the J&S Boat Ramp. Carl Lewis with Matt Johnson and Bob Miller with Mark Lungren went to the lily pads across from and just south of the boat ramp. Mark pulled a nice keeper out of the pads just shortly after settling down and Bob also got one. I had a hit but missed it. A few casts later, I was hit again and put a 1 1/2 pounder in the boat. Just a few casts later, I had another hit but she got off in the pads. Matt had a couple of hits also but could not stick them. The sun was up pretty full and the bass were down pretty full. We went to the lock to see what was happening there with no results. We proceeded south in the canal a short distance without any luck and were outta there in about 20 minutes. We went farther south where Matt and I had done pretty well in a previous tournament but had only one small bass that would not measure.

We then headed back to the north end of the canal and Henry Creek Locks. One fish blew up on some shad that was there but we could not get him to hit anything. We tried the docks across on the other side with negative results, so back to the south end of the canal. Matt hooked into a keeper, his first of the day, then got a second one that was 11 inches. I then hooked another 1 1/2 pounder and that just about did us for the day.
