Mark with Tourney Big Bass.

On February 20th East Coast Bass Anglers held their monthly tournament on Lake Okeechobee, launching out of the State Ramp at Okeetanie. The great weather we had the week before had not held out and it was another cold-front tournament. At first safe light (6:45) the boats were let loose and the fun began with everyone running out of the river and into different parts of the lake.

At 3:00 all boats were back at the ramp except one that had suffered a catastrophic engine failure. Fellow club member Hunter Broggi was nice enough to run half way across the lake to render assistance and tow the disabled boat to the closest boat ramp. To Hunter, THANK YOU for being such a great example of what this club is all about!

After all was said and done, and everyone had weighed in Tru-Tungsten Pro-Staffer Mark Lundgren brought in not only the heaviest stringer, but also had the lunker of the tournament that weighed in at 3.93 lbs. The team of Mark Lundgren and Walter Hunter nabbed first place with a combined weight of 17.86 lbs. Second place fell to the team of Matt Johnson and Dean Baldwin with 10.86 lbs while Third place went to the team of Hunter Broggi and Loel Brandscomb with a weight of 5.64 lbs.

Again, a special thank you to everyone who helped out with towing in the disabled boat and making sure that it got safely on the trailer!

Our next tournament will be launching from Grape Hammock Fish Camp on Lake Kissimmee on March 20th. We are still accepting new members, both boaters and non-boaters. If you are interested on joining our club please call Mark Lundgren at 540-809-5238, or Carl Lewis at 772-528-5652.

Angler of the Year Standings:

On a separate note, seven club members fished in the T.B.F. State Qualifier on Lake Okeechobee on February 27th and 28th. Matt Johnson (6th), Hunter Broggi (7th), and Mark Lundgren (16th) all managed a top 25 finish and all club members that competed caught enough fish to be qualified to fish the State Championship to be held on Lake Istokpoga in October! Great job to all who competed, and a special thank you to club member Bob Haarer, who was gracious enough to loan his boat to fellow club member Mark Lundgren. Mark's motor had failed the weekend before and was still in the shop being rebuilt. Bob's generosity allowed Mark to be able to compete as a boater and also have some time to get in a little practice as well. Yet another great example of the camaraderie of the members of this great club. Thanks again Bob!
