January 2008 results

Mike with Tourney Big Fish, 4.60 pounds.

Anglers from East Coast Bass Anglers had to delay the start of their monthly tournament by about 40 minutes on January 19th, 2008, due to the heavy fog that had rolled in during the night. We finally made launch at 7:40 AM but at idle speed only (if Idle is speed). Carl Lewis and Dean Mancini along with Leroy Bauer and Tournament Director Matt Johnson headed out to the mouth of the river. I stayed out there until about 9:00 AM without a hit. I then helped a stranded angler whose motor had quit (not one of the ECBA Anglers). I towed him back to the marina and then went up river. Fishing was slow all day and my partner and I went without a hit until about 1:00 PM. I then got one about 2 1/2 pounds and a few minutes later got another about 2 1/2 pounds. About 45 minutes later, I got one on about 5 pounds but she pulled of under the boat after making one last desperate dive to free herself. It was then time to head to the ramp for weigh in.

January Results:

Big Fish was caught by Mike Schlueter -- 4.60 pounds

Not a bad tournament for the river with all anglers bringing a total weight to the scales of 49.15 pounds for 25 fish. Almost a 2 pound average per fish. Leroy Bauer had the only limit. One of the better trounaments we'ver had in awhile.

Next tournament will be back on the Kissimmee River on Feb 23rd. See ya at the Ramp and tight lines.
