Sherman Cruse with Tourney Big Fish.
I proceeded up the Harney Pond Canal to the Lock and stayed up in that area until about 10:30 AM then returned to the ramp area. I started casting a deep diving plug that would dive to a 10 to 12 food depth. I was not the only one in the area who was using this technique and most of the Anglers that were fishing the tournament were in the area.
When I arrived there, I only had one fish in the live well but 45 minutes later, I had my limit and started to cull fish. I finally finished catching 9 bass and culling 4 small fish for bigger fish. Bob Hain and Ed Owens had not left the area since launch and were well on their way to a great stringer each. Sherman and Skip were both doing great and had culled quite a few fish. Seven of the 14 Anglers fishing had 5 fish limits. Two others had 4 fish. The rest had 3 or less but no one came to the weigh in without fish.
All in all it was a pretty good tournament with most Anglers staying in the Canal to fish which turned out to be a pretty good choice. Bob Hain commented during the weigh in that this Tournament was the best he had ever had and had had a great time. We had 2 new prospective Anglers fishing with us this tournament and hope they decide to become regulars. The are Dave Cardamine and Mat Johnson.
Winners of the Tournament were Jeff Edgerly and Bob Haarer with a total weight of 23.37 pounds. 2nd Place was Ed Owens and Bob Hain with 21.43 Pounds and third place was Carl Lewis and Sherman Cruse with 17.36 pounds and Sherman having big fish for the tournament at 4.65 pounds. 2nd Big Fish was 4.64 pounds, caught by Ed Owens.
