Leroy Bauer with Tourney Big Bass.
Anglers from East Coast Bass Anglers fished their monthly tournament Saturday June 19th, launching out of Okee-Tanie Ramp on Lake Okeechobee. At safe light all anglers headed for their spots. I got to mine and there were a few anglers already there from other tournaments.
The bass were striking all over the place and feeding on the shad in the water like crazy. But it was hard to get the good ones to hit the bait we were throwing. I managed to get two pretty good fish to hit and finished the day with the five fish limit. Six Anglers came to the scales with five fish limits.
I moved around to a couple of different spots for the day and had some really good hits but could not get the fish out of the thick grass and reeds. I guess that's why they call it Fishing instead of Catching. It was certainly one of the hottest days I've spent on the water in sometime. But it was a great day anyway and we all enjoyed it. The following active anglers missed a good day on the water.
Hunter Broggi who fell out of second place and into third overall for the year. He was replaced by Leroy Bauer in the Second Spot.
Mike Schlueter who was in 6th place overall fell to 9th overall. Anglers who moved ahead of him are: Bob Haarer, Dean Baldwin and Felix Morales.
Skip Jeslosky - Well the only thing I can say here is that old Ranger of his must have been too tired to fish.
Ed Owens - Call on Friday to advised he had the Hives - Sorry Ed, I know what a pain in the butt they are - been there and done that.
Standings for the East Coast Bass Anglers tournament are as follows:
Except for the heat, it was a great day of fishing. Next tournament will be on the Palm Beach Canal system launching at the Air Port Lakes Ramp.
