Mark with Tourney Big Fish, 5.31 pounds.

Everyone went to their honey holes and Carl Lewis, Dean Baldwin, Bob Haarer and Mark Lungren headed for Lake Istakpoga. I arrived and started fishing and had four hits right off but could only put two of them in the boat, which turned out to be shorts. I lost the other two better fish in the Kissimmee Grass. Then Dean caught one that was a keeper. We stayed in that same area all day and headed for the ramp a 2:15.

Both Dean and I had 4 fish each. Bob Haarer had called but poor reception kept me from understanding what he wanted. However, upon arriving in the River about 1 mile from the North End of Lake Kissimmee, I found him. He was trolling along and at first I thought he was just trying to put one more fish in the boat but he waved me down and advised that his engine was blown. We were approximately 15 miles from the boat ramp.

I hooked up to him and started towing him. About a mile out into the lake Skip Jesloski came by and stopped. He advised that he would go on to the weigh in an let everyone else know what was going on. I had one full tank of fuel and just a sprinkle in the second tank. We arrived at the North end of Brama Island about 5 PM with still another 7 miles to go and I only had 1/4 tank of gas left. So, I unhooked from him and headed to the ramp for a refill.

I was about 1/3 mile from the ramp when that 14 gallon tank emptied. I switched to the other tank, which the gauge indicated was empty but still had some fuel left. I made it to the ramp on fumes. Filled up one 14 gallon tank but forgot to switch over the the now full tank. I headed out to the River from the ramp, got up on plane and ran out of gas on the now empty tank. I switched over to the full tank and headed to pick up Bob and His Partner. We finally got to the ramp at 6:30 and loaded up the boats.

After arriving home, I had a call from Skip who advised that something had happened to his truck on the way home. It had no oil in it and when he stopped at Highway 60 and 441, his oil light came on and his oil pressure gauge was 0. He got oil at the gas station, 4 quarts and headed home. He got off the Turnpike in Stuart and again his oil light came on. He stopped and put 4 more quarts in it and made it home. On Sunday morning I received a call from Hunter Broggi. He had just made it home to his driveway when he noticed his trailer wheel was smoking. He got out and checked it and his bearings were shot and the wheel was about ready to fall of the hub. Well, that was $350.00 for the fix which included new bearings on both wheels with a Buddy Bearing for each wheel. All in all, although we had those problems, some of us managed to catch some fish.

Next tournament will be in the J&S Rim canal provided there is enough water to launch the boats at the J&S Ramp. Tight Lines.
