Bobby Sheltra Celebrates His Big Stringer.
About my 5th cast I boated a 13 inch fish and Bobby's comment was "That was pretty quick." A few casts later I boated my second fish and then lost one in the lilly pads. Bobby was still fishing the deep water. A few casts later I got another nice 2 pounder and Bobby went to another set of pads and caught one about 2 1/2 pounds. He then disappeared.
After fishing in the pads for about 45 minutes and not getting another fish I went south. About an hour later I hooked a nice fish which I guessed to be about 7 pounds and had her coming to the boat. She headed for the deep water and then the line started to come to the top. I knew she was about to jump so I put my rod tip down into the water as far as I could reach to keep her from jumping but to no avail. She jumped and threw the Spinner Bait. I fished along that area for a while and then went farther south.
I did some flippin and then came back towards the locks. Bobby was still in the area and ripping the fish out one after the other. He had a fun day of catching and not just casting. Bobby's comment at the ramp was that the Stringer of Fish he had caught was his biggest stringer to date. He had an excellent day by all means. Bobby's big fish was 6.33 pounds and his second big fish was 6.21 pounds. His total catch was 21.14 pounds. That is the second stringer this year caught by Anglers in East Coast Bass Anglers Bass Club totaling over 20.00 pounds. Nice catch Bobby.
For this tournament Second Place goes to Ken Hall and Sherman Cruse, Third Place belongs to Jeff Edgerly and Leroy Bauer. Needless to say, Bobby won this tournament hands down and had big fish. The top six standings as of this tournament in total points are:
These standings will change and all it takes is for one angler who is not in the top six to come in with a 20 plus pound stringer like Bobby had this past weekend. Our next tournament will launch out of Harney Pond on the Southwest side of Lake Okeechobee. Anglers Beware, there are big fish to be had in this area, but due to the low water on the Big O, they may be hard to get to. See you on the water.
