Matt Johnson with tourney big bass.

In The Beginning and the End

Air Temp: 77-95
Water Temp: 79-85
Clarity: Stained in some areas, clear in others

The day started out muggy and very calm, take-off was at 6:15 am with all boats due back at 3:00. Several boats started their day very close to the launch fishing the lock and bridges, while others ran in every direction (except of course, flying or sinking). There were five Anglers with limits and who reported catching their fish on a variety of lures and at a variety of depths. Everything from crank baits to buzz baits to finesse baits produced good numbers.

Everyone in the Tournament Caught Fish. Not a single 0 in the bunch. Big fish of the tournament was caught on a shaky Head by Matt Johnson and weighed 5.75 pounds. Second biggest fish came on a Carolina Rig also caught by Matt Johnson. In the end, the team of Mark Lundgren and Matt Johnson edged out the rest of the field with both big fish and the biggest bag for the day.

A good day was had by all, we got loaded up and finished picking up trash for our environmental impact requirement for the State Federation just before a big storm blew in and dumped some much needed rain on the area.

Please remember, we are currently looking for new members. If you know someone who may be interested let them know to come to our next meeting or call Mark Lundgren at 540-809-5238 or Carl Lewis 772-528-5652. Our next tournament will be at Lake Ansin Garcia on June 21, 2008 west of Vero. Good Luck and Tight Lines!
