Al Naverez with Tourney Big Bass.

East Coast Bass Anglers fished their monthly Tournament on Beautiful Lake Istakpoga, near Sebring Florida. My partner and I headed for our honey hole and started fishing. The previous day and night a front rolled through and I was in hopes that it had not effected the bite much. However, I soon learned that it had. I did not catch my first fish until about 9:00 A.M.

However, we then went to my secondary spot and on the second cast I got my second fish and about 15 minutes later my partner, Felix Morales, pulled one in that weighed about 2 1/2 pounds. We fished on and he got his second fish and I thought we were on to something. A little while later I hooked up on my third bass, another keeper. So, all we needed was for my partner to get one more fish but it was not to be. He did catch another but it was less that 12 inches so back over the side it went.

Last hour we went to my partners spot and fished for awhile but to no avail. So we went to the weigh-in with 5 fish in the boat. (Istakpoga has a three fish limit per angler). Once we got to the scales and all the anglers started weighing in their catch, we realized that it had been a very tough day of fishing. There were fourteen anglers who fished this tournament and there were only four that came to the scales with their three fish limit.

Fourteen Anglers caught a total of 23 bass which weighed in at 35.98 pounds. That's quite a difference from last month's tournament when 12 anglers caught a total weight of 103.91 pounds.
